A Middleton Cheney Garden Design & Build in a small walled garden with a south facing aspect on the outskirts of this North Oxfordshire village. The focus of the garden was to provide a cottage garden feel with planting and to provide height and interest. The main garden sits on one level then we created a step down near the bottom of the garden as shown in image 9. This provides a paved area where we built a bespoke garden shed to fit between the back of the garage wall and the rear boundary fence.
The use of grey painted latticework fixed to the walls to break up the stonework and the use of climbing roses and other cottage garden climbers to soften and provide floral interest. The use of two inter-connecting lawns creates movement and interest in the garden. We included a block paving mowing strip around each lawn to help with ease of maintenance. Circular paving was used to create patio sitting out areas in front of the back door and the french doors to the living room. Ideal for a small bistro table set.
We also added 2 flat top archways to create additional height in the garden for the use of climbing roses. The main borders are planted with the gems of the cottage garden influence. We used 3 quantity evergreen Pleached trees along the back wall to screen overlooking windows to provide further privacy. These trees are superb for providing a garden with instant height and thoroughly recommend them if you’re looking to create instant privacy.
